Alan Wake....It's not a River.....What!?

So I finished Alan Wake. I really enjoyed it but there are some things that bother me.

Photobucket

The controls where too much like Resident Evil, not that its a bad thing! I just felt it would help make this game be more unique if it didn't just bother mechanics and controls from other games.

I got really tired of Alan constantly losing his guns and manuscripts EVERY cut scene! It became a run on joke!

The "Taken" could be overwhelming at times but not too difficult.

Um is that a Discoball Big Daddy?

The dialogue was awful and so was some of the voice acting.

It wasn't huge difference between this and Resident Evil. All it did was bring back the horror aspect to those games.

YOU FIGHT A TORNADO!!!! *at the end I did sing a lyric from Matt Hardy's theme that said "I can slap a Tornado"*

The ending made little sense to me and the final words spoken before the credits made it seem like the game was one big joke, and those last words where the punchline. Anyone who has beaten the game will understand what I mean.

Now I really did enjoy the game. The story although predictable and sometimes dumb was still pretty good. I did find myself saying out loud "Of course I need find a nearby generator!" which became kinda annoying after a while. Which was kinda where Alan Wake suffers. It became somewhat repetitive. Start this generator, kill these taken, guard this, and solve this EXTREMELY easy puzzle. Again repetitive gameplay and the combination of Luigi's Mansion and Resident Evil 5 mechanics still made this game really good!

I strongly hope the DLC explains what the ending was all about!

Alan Wake is available now on Xbox 360.

The 2 DLC Episodes are available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 560 MS Points each.

Harmonix and Viacom are splitsville!

Photobucket

Critically acclaimed developers Harmonix announced today they have come to terms with the split of their partners at Viacom. The split is a blessing and a curse for a few reasons. Now Harmonix aren't held down by Viacom's shackles, meaning they are back to being an independent developer, but Viacom was an extremely useful company in that they own MTV. MTV is the most powerful music company in the world. They can get a band do anything they want so if Harmonix wanted a certain artist in their games, MTV would have them in it with a snap of their proverbial fingers.

Now thats not to say Harmonix don't have any pull in the music industry, I mean even with their first games like Frequency and the completely underrated sequel Amplitude they had artists like Blink 182, Slipknot, No Doubt, Pink, Papa Roach, Run DMC, and Coal Chamber just to name a few. So after many years they've been able to nab The Beatles, Linkin Park, Green Day, John Lennon, and Metallica. It's safe to say Harmonix shouldn't have much trouble getting more artist for their supposed "future unannounced projects"

I for one am glad to see Harmonix go back to their roots. That means so much more freedom with their games. Lets just hope this doesnt compromise any future with Rock Band 3 and it's DLC.

Rock Band 3 is currently available on all major platforms with over 2,000 songs supporting it.

Tim's Best of 2010!

Well since 2010 is a few weeks from ending, we decided to make a list of what we here at Rated R Society deemed best in show of 2010!

Here is what Tim thought should be named Best of 2010!

Video Game of the Year:

Photobucket
Bioshock 2

It was really close for me to pick game of the year because there where A LOT of good games this year. Bioshock 2 was just in my opinion the best. The story is captivating, it's visually stunning, and the controls where nearly perfect. I absolutely love this game!

Downloadable Game of the Year:
Photobucket

Costume Quest

Funny dialogue, simple controls, and funny unique story made this game an easy pick for me.

Handheld Game of the Year:

Photobucket
Angry Birds

Like that wasn't completely obvious!

Movie of the Year:
Photobucket

Toy Story 3

Maybe because I grew up with these characters, or maybe because Pixar are kings of story telling but overall this movie had me laughing hysterically and crying like a baby. I mean also there wasn't really anything this year that really stood out to me. So Toy Story 3 takes the gold on this one! Well Scott Pilgrim and Inception where pretty good also.

Actor of the Year:
Photobucket

Michael C Hall

For his always terrific role in Dexter.

Album of the Year:
Photobucket

Linkin Park "A Thousand Suns"

No brainer I guess? Honestly I do truly love this record. Now there where a few albums that came really close to taking the gold. My Chemical Romance "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys", How To Destroy Angel's self titled debut, HIM's "Screamworks: Love In Theory and Practice" Muse's "The Resistance", and Stone Sour's "Audio Secrecy" where all close contenders. The reason why LP took it was not because they are my favorite band but because its the most ballsy and gutsiest album this year. They took a risk and did it right so for that they win.

TV Season of the Year:
Photobucket

Dexter: Season 5

Everything about this show and season was spot on. My heart was pounding every episode and at the end of each one it kept me wanting more. Notable mentions are "Eastbound and Down: Season 2", "Bored to Death: Season 2".

Internet Fad of the Year:
Photobucket

Auto tuning. Whether it's Charlie Bit Me, Double Rainbow, Lincoln Park Rapist, or a lesser known but still funny Backin Up, they all where able to get millions of youtube views and spawn some extremely funny moments.

WWE Superstar of the Year:
Photobucket

Wade Barrett

The man has come out of nowhere and has out done almost half the current WWE roster in mic skills and in ring ability.

DVD of the Year:
Photobucket
Chris Jericho: Breaking the Code

Hands down one of the best WWE Documentary DVDs ever done. Great matches and an extremely interesting and informative documentary film. WWE nailed it with this one. More need to be like this.

Musical Act of the Year:
Photobucket

Linkin Park

Pushing the envelope yet again of what defines rock music. Linkin Park have managed to break down walls that no one thought a rock band could, and still be good at it!

News Story of the Year:
Photobucket

Trapped Chilean Miners

Come on! They where fine! They had PSPs and food!

Sports Team of the Year:

Uh......I don't know.....

The "Who Gives a Fuck?!" Moment of the Year:
Photobucket

The Beatles being on iTunes

WHY THE FUCK WAS THIS A BIG DEAL!?!?!?!?!?!?

Well this has been my choices for Best of 2010! I hope you all enjoyed! I cannot wait to see what 2011 will bring us! Will Thor be any good? Is it possible Linkin Park is releasing a follow up so soon? Who becomes the shining star in the WWE? Will people realize the Beatles are horribly over rated? WHO KNOWS!?

Lead singer of Slipknot wishes you a Merry Xmas!

Frontman for Slipknot and Stone Sour, Core Taylor has decided to spread some Christmas cheer this holiday season with a song called "X-M@$". According to an interview with Corey he wrote this song last year while listening to people "bitch" about the holidays. He himself loves the holidays but being the goofball he is decided to write this song.

All the proceeds from "X-M@$" will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Reasons being is Corey's grandmother is a cancer survivor, but he also feels teenage cancer is somewhat over-looked.

So don't go and illegally download this song. Pick up on iTunes or any other legit music downloading site.

Corey also stated if the songs hit Number 1 on the charts he'll have a big surprise for his fans! What could it be? Something Slipknot related (Who plan on hitting the festival stage this summer) or Stone Sour related? The only way to find out is to make this song number 1.

Maggots get out there and make it happen!

Trust us Job Hunting is HELL!!!

Well it's been a while since we posted anything! A lot of that has to do with the people involved. Some of us are a bit busy, but we are returning very shortly! So before we make a full blown return I'd like to show you guys something super interesting and funny!

So a friend of mine named Joe Corallo is trying to get a TV show comedy/scifi off the ground. The show is titled The Horrors of Job Hunting: With Kevin and Randy.

Now you may be thinking...what does this have to do with you? Well he needs YOUR help to get this project off the ground and running! He has started something called a Kickstarter which is basically an internet version of PBS. You donate money to the project and when it reaches its goal you get something in return. You could get anything from digital copies of the series to having yourself as an extra in a future episode!

All donation info and a nice introduction background info video is all in the link below!

The Horrors of Job Hunting: With Kevin and Randy

I highly recommend everyone check this project out. Joe is a very funny and gifted person and a unique show idea like this deserves a chance! I mean if mindless trash like Jersey Shore can be a big hit why can't this?!

Bottom line...donate to something that deserves a fighting chance! You never know how big this show can get, and when it does you can say "Hey I totally helped this show get to this point!". Also Joe will be eternally grateful (just picture the Toy Story alien with Joe's face...its kinda like that)

The death or rebirth of Linkin Park? "A Thousand Sun" review

I wanna start this by saying I spent a LONG time listening to this album. I went through alot of different emotions while doing so. I am not reviewing this album in the mindset of a Linkin Park fanboy. You may think otherwise but I am not. I am being completely honest about my feelings of this album. To be honest I was very taken back the first time I heard it and wasn't sure if I liked it. So please again this is a completely honest review.

Thank you

Photobucket

Since their debut album "Hybrid Theory" in 2000 Linkin Park have been on the forefront of blending different types of music into a popular and marketable genre bending sound. What does it take for a band that was brought up during the "Nu Metal" to stay relevant? A simple answer to be honest. Release "A Thousand Suns", is the answer. I sound crazy? Linkin Park have been whiney, emo, power chord ridden rubbish? I say Nay to you my friend and ask you to continue reading.

Now before I go into a song by song breakdown of the album I wanna do a little history lesson on how "A Thousand Suns" came to be.

The touring cycle of "Minutes to Midnight" has ended and it's time for LP to jump back into the studio and create another hit for Warner Bros. Records. In early interviews with co-frontman Chester Bennington, he stated Linkin Park where going to take the reigns of the all elusive concept record. Bands like Pink Floyd and Green Day had what it takes to pull such a heavy task off. Did Linkin Park? Mike Shinoda's answer in short...no. The idea was canned (but was it really?). Linkin Park spent about 2 and a half years in the studio working with famed producer Rick Rubin (Minutes to Midnight) again. During that time they used alot of their new writing styles they learned while making Minutes and brought in even more. Their conventional style of writing was thrown out the window and the band retooled themselves completely. Needless to say stress levels where through the roof which helped create some very interesting music and moments (which can be seen on the documentary "Meeting of A Thousand Suns").

The band knew they if they needed to survive a cut throat, backstabbing, short attention spanned ridden era of music they need to take a risk and try something unheard of in this day in age of music. They needed to reinvent their band from every aspect. The band have asked people to do something odd nowadays, and actually listen to album as an ALBUM. Sounds weird and almost a no brainer right?

Actually in this era listening to an album as whole is very strange, with things like iTunes and Zune Marketplace, singles are what drive sales. Albums as a whole are on the down and down as far as sales go compared to the single songs themselves. For example Lady Gaga's "Pokerface" has sold more on its own then the album its born from. Now that seems to make sense I mean the song is .99$ while the album is 9.99$, in this economy the single outselling the album makes more sense, but thats not the reason actually. The average person nowadays cannot be bothered with listening to whole song let alone a 30 minute plus album. They need to be entertained immediately or that skip button is gonna be hit and the song is soon forgotten. Which is why most artists now focus on making big catchy, and hook driven singles.

Now thats not to say Linkin Park aren't guilty of doing this, I mean listen to their singles like "Numb", "What I've Done", and quite possibly their biggest song ever "In The End". They are all radio friendly powerful songs, meant to peak the listeners interest long enough to make them go"...hmmm I wanna hear that again!". Linkin Park knew that if they wanted to keep this trend going they would fall into obscurity. This isn't what any band wants, so they did something about it.

They want people to actually listen to this album as an album like you would in the older days when you would plop the needle down on a vinyl album and just sit back and listen. Thats tough with people currently, but Linkin Park want you to give it a shot see how it goes for you. They want you to feel like you where on drugs without actually being on them. They essentially want this album to be an adventure or a journey.

They knew this album would cause controversy among fans and critics alike. I mean I don't blame them. How would you feel if a band you loved for 10 years decided to do something COMPLETELY different from anything they have ever done in the past. Like say Metallica decided to stop being a metal band and became a bluegrass group? What if Slipknot went off and ditched the masks and guitars and picked up trumpets and became a ska band? Outrage right? Well what about when bands change and actually become better because of it? I mean Black Sabbath was originally a Jazz band and now Ozzy is the King of Metal! Needless to say this isn't unheard of. It's not always successful and most bands fail at reinvention, but Linkin Park hasn't. They created this fusion of rock, metal, rap, hip hop, electronica and completely kicked it in the mouth with "A Thousand Suns". You can agree with me or not and thats completely OK, but you cannot deny Linkin Park have a had big influence on music in the past decade and this album on solidifies that statement.

No legendary band got to where they are today by pleasing everyone.

After all of that, I present my song by song thoughts on Linkin Park's "A Thousand Suns"

Photobucket

The Requiem: The intro to the album, a very eerie emotional tone is set right from the beginning of the album. A small piano part is played and a zombie like harmony is played which slowly fades into a robotic girls voice depressingly singing a piece of "The Catalyst" (Things like this happen throughout the album which ties it together). The intro is by far the strongest one they've had in the past 10 years. I certainly sets the mood for the chaos that is about to come.

The Radiance: The intro blends immediately into a speech by Robert. J Oppenheimer right after the first Atomic Bomb was dropped at the end of World War II. I personally love this speech and was very excited to hear it on this album. Linkin Park have used the idea of Atomic destruction since Minutes to Midnight, and it shows they still use it which I very much applaud. The speech fades out slowly and fades into the next track very well.

Burning In The Skies: The first actually song on the album. You are now immediately introduced to the new and improved Linkin Park. This is also by far Mike Shinoda's best vocal performance to date. He has really inproved from just being a rapper since Hybrid Theory. Chester's performance is also very stellar in this track. Lyrically it's one of their best as well. It's obvious they have completely thrown out the teen angst ridden lyrics and replaced them with real and heartfelt emotion. This an awesome track and great introduction to new Linkin Park.

Empty Spaces: Another interlude (there are a few)....there is an on going joke in the LP community that this is the best song ever. Its just crickets and the faint yelling of Brad (guitarist) screaming miltary orders in spanish and the sounds of war in the background.

When They Come For Me: One of my presonal favorite songs on the album. The beat is just dirty and strong. The tribal drums get stuck in your head for hours after listening to the album. The song is sorta in the style of their old sound but because of how odd it sounds it strays away from the conventional sound. The lyrics are also a highlight because Mike essentially calls out all the fans that want them to stay the same. For example "Nor the same person tellin' you to forfeit the game" is direct knock at the haters of their new sound. I also very much love Chester's almost african like yelling at the end of the track. All in all its definately one of the standout track from the record because there is just so much going on in it!

Robot Boy: The title really means nothing. The song is very spacey and spiritual in a sense. The song almost feels like it was written to all the teens that grew up listening to their records and felt alone. One big standout on the track is that the word "love" is used as an emotion rather than an adjective. The song is lyrically very deep and powerful. Musically its very Radiohead spacey synthy. Chester's harmonizing is also very soothing to the ears on this track. It's a very underrated track overall.

Jornada Del Muerto: Again a very misleading track name. The song is again spacey with Mike singing very softly the words "Life me up, let me go" in Japanese. Which again are lyrics from "The Catalyst". Not much to say here.

Waiting For The End: Ahhh what a great song! When I hear this song I ask how people can hate them sometimes. Everything about this song is just brilliant. From the vocal power of Chester to the slight guitar parts from Brad or harmonizing of Mike during the chorus. The song is just well written and will be one that stands the test of time. The first time I listened to the album I had gotten to this song and said "Thats it! this song has won me over!". Thats not to say this my favorite song the album but it truely is a great song.

Blackout: One of things that made me such a huge fan of Linkin Park was Chester's voice, how he voice has such a dynamic to it that it can fit so many different genres. Like most though I love his scream. Those people are going to lean more towards this track because Chester's scream his lungs out on this track...for only the first few minutes or so. Then the song does something I've rarely heard before, it completely does a 180 and becomes the polar opposite. Most would think it was a new song but its not, look at your iTunes and itll still say "Blackout". I love how this song has 2 or almost 3 personalities and it seriously blends them so well. It goes from industrial, to ballad rock/pop, to dance and for some odd reason it makes complete sense!

Wretches and Kings: This is the one track that old school LP fans will like. This one is basically the last sentiments of Hybrid Theory you're gonna get on the album. It opens with another speech this time by Mario Savio (Ill link a youtube vid to each speech at the bottom). The song has such a great beat and really shows that if Linkin Park still wanted to make their old sound, they still can and do it well.

Wisdom, Justice, and Love: Yet another interlude that contains yet another speech but this time its Martin Luther King Jr. Not much going on here except we are finally informed that MLK Jr was a Transformer!

Iridescent: This is THE song on this album. This seriously shows how different Linkin Park wanted to be. Such a powerful song from start to finish. Linkin Park knock it out of the park with this track. A simple yet fun guitar solo guides the song to such heights. Im actually surprised on just how good this song really is. I almost didn't expect a song like this from them and I couldn't be happier with it.

Fallout: Mikes voice is enhanced to sound robotically and he sings lyrics from "Burning In The Skies". Yet again the album ties itself together.

The Catalyst: I already did a review on the song, but after hearing with the album as whole, the song makes alot more sense. I agree that this was a great song to introduce fans to the new sound. If you can accept "The Catalyst" then you can accept "A Thousand Suns".

The Messenger: This is a very rare sound for LP. This is a completely stripped down performance of just guitars, piano, and Chester singing with the most passion ever heard from him. The song is such a great ending to such a fun and crazy ride that this album takes you on. Like I said the passion in Chester's voice is awe inspiring. I'm not saying this as a fanboy at all when I say he is by far ONE of the best vocalists the past decade. TRY and debate me!

This album is seriously one of those ones you need to hear more than once to really get everything it has to offer. Sometimes you'll get feelings of anxiety,or fear, loneliness, sadness, excitement, and joy. There is no way to tell what your gonna feel every time you hear it. It is by far one album that gets better and better every time you hear it.

Linkin Park have reinvented themselves, some may hate it, some love it, and some could care less and would rather listen to country and ride tractors. That's fine, there is nothing wrong with any of that. One thing you cannot deny is Linkin Park have made a very huge impact on music since Hybrid Theory, and will continue to do so well into the future.

To old fans who hate it, maybe we will see you next album!
To new fans, we welcome you with open arms!
To the fans that never left, I need say anything because they get it.

Final verdict: I welcome the new sound and I couldn't be more excited about whats to come! Bring on new music guys, because this album is terrific!

"A Thousand Suns" is in stores now and on iTunes

The Murderdolls prove they have what it takes!

The Murderdolls are back! Last seen as horror punk with cheesey, tongue in cheek lyrics, getting ideas from B-movies, horror queens and anything else they turned into goth punk songs. Now after being 6 feet under for a gruesome 7years; Joey Jordison and Wednesday 13 are alive and rocking out a whole new image and style. Their new album “Women and Children Last” bring you nothing but pure goth n’ roll.

Photobucket

The Murderdolls first were heard when they released their debut album “Beyond The Valley of The Murderdolls”, but when Joey and Wednesday sat down to write “Women and Children Last” they wrote some songs to give it that old school Murderdolls feel but ultimately have gone a step above their older image; musically and lyricaly.

That’s why I chose to review this album. I’ve been a huge fan of The Murderolls since I first heard them with their debut album and im excited to share my thoughts about their new album with you all! I will give my opinions song by song and then an overal feel of the album. So here it is, enjoy!

Photobucket

1.) The Wolrd According To Revenge.
The song starts off with a little guitar playing with little sounds crawling around until you hear Wednesdays voice speaking to you and once you hear the guitars and drums kick in you know The Murderdolls are back and by the end of the song you feel pumped to hear the rest of the album. This is a great build up that leads right into their second song.

2.) Chapel of Blood.
The opening of the song gets you ready and makes your head bop. By the time the song kicks in you’re already moving along with it. Wednesday also shows off more a singing style as opposed to screaming in the song. There is a part in the song right after the second chorus that’s really groovy which leads right to the solo which has a combination of metal and rock n roll guitars. Overal the song has a dark creepy feel to it and is a good song to start the album.

3.) Bored ‘Til Death.
The start of the song is very rock n roll but when the 2nd verse hits it turns into a punk feel. Wednesday goes back to yelling but still makes it sound like he’s singing. This is one song that has an old school Murderdolls feel especially with it’s chorus lyrics “bored til death, nothing to lose, gonna put a motherfuckin bullet in you! Sick of your lies and all of your shit. The thought of you living makes me sick!” This song is fast, straight to the point and definitely a song to throw your head around to.

4.) Drug Me To Hell.
Special guest guitarist; Mick Mars of Motely Crue. With his help he adds a MC twist to The Murderdolls. Wednesday here sings the song unlike Chapel of Blood and Bored ‘Til Death to show that sound more. Now this is straight forward rock n roll with it’s groovy guitars and drumming.

5.)Nowhere.
Opening guitars help bring the old Murderdolls sound right back. Wednesday starts with deep talking then goes singing into the chorus for a catchy bouncy section. The guitar itself in this song is very catchy and the lyrics for the chorus “I say I'm going nowhere and you know that I don't care how I'm getting there. I pack my bags and I wish you well. I found myself a brand new hell” make out for a great sing along.

6.) Summertime Suicide.
Everytime you’ll hear this song you’ll sing right along with the opening ; “As the daylight died on the summertime suicide.” Another straight forward catchy rock and roll groovy song. In this song also Wednesday sticks with the singing which adds to the different new style they show in other songs as well as in this one.

7.) Death Valley Superstars.
The start of the song has a dark, creeper mood, like someone is creeping behind you. Good vibe from them but by the verse it’s faster and rock. The song has a nice fast guitar solo that adds more to that rock sound for the song. The ending has a nice fast double bass metal ending, great way to end the song. Overall I’d say this is there “anthem song” saying exactly what the song title is and more with the lyrics “You say you want a revolution well you don't have to look that far. We're the motherfuckers of the apocalypse, the death valley superstars.”

8.) My Dark Place Alone.
Hands down my favorite song. This one is personal for both Wednesday and Joey. It delt with Wednesdays own problems he faced and with Joey on the death of Paul Gray of Slipknot. Even though it is a very personal song they still shove the song right into your ears; this fast paced pure metal song has a great opening guitar riff that leads right into the whole band kicking it and making you bang your head like there’s no tomorrow. After the 2nd chorus the song goes into a nice heavy groovy bridge, leading Wednesday into the lyrics “Now I'm sick in the head, in the head motherfucker. Like the living dead, living dead motherfucker.” Which leads into a nice short guitar solo and ends off with Wednesday showing f his trademark scream. The song ends of with the same opening fast metal guitar riff that will makeyou once again head bang till it’s over.

9.) Blood Stained Valentine.
Mick Mars is back in this song. The start of the song has a definite Motley Crue feel especialy with how Wednesday sings. With it’s catchy chorus once you know these lyrics “I could have brought you roses
or a diamond ring. That's just material things. This day i want you to be mine. I'm your blood stained valentine.” You will be singing right along more so with the chanting of “Hey!” after the chorus. The guitar solo and outro solos are another part that Mick brings to the song. This definitely makes it sound Motley Crue-ish, making this another great rock n’ roll song. It has that old school feel to it because it’s a simple song but Wednesday adds that twist of The Murderdolls to it with his unique voice.

10.) Pieces of You.
A song that purely says “THE MURDERDOLLS.” If you’re familiar with their older songs then this is a song just for you. It has their older style to it, seems like Joey and Wednesday wanted to write a new song but include their old sounds to it which they totally accomplished. “NOW the time has come why don't you
SAY we have some fun and we can PLAY operation and mutilate pieces of you. NOW I know now that this may HURT but I promise you that I WON'T do anything that I wouldn't do to my own mother.”Now if this doesn’t say older Murderdolls then I don’t know what will but this was a definite old school feel from them and a great song for their fans of their first album, it’ll take you back to those days.

11.) Homicide Drive.
Strong heavy opening for this song. Once again this has a dark creepy feel to it, this song also has a great guitar solo that fits perfectly with the song. It goes very well with this dark vibe. The ending picks up and gets a little faster with a little double bass added and hearing the ambulance siren add to it also making it a short sweet song.

12.) Rock n’ Roll Is All I Got.
Exactly what the title says, another great song that is just rock and roll. The chorus lyrics show it more also “I've said it once before and I'll say it once again; sex, drugs and rock n roll have been my only friends.” What more do you want aside from a truly rock n roll sounding guitar solo done by Joey to show they have stepped up the genre of goth n roll and come along way from their first album. The song really gets you moving, pumps you up with it’s fast paced feel.

13.) Nothing’s Gonna Be Alright.
Simple easy sounding song. I’d say the tamest song from the album. Joey adds to the song a nice harmony guitar solo, nothing crazy as other solos but it sounds nice and flows easy with how the song is.

14.) Whatever You Got, I’m Against It.
Another song that has that old Murderdolls feel to but has that rock n roll twist. It’s a bouncier sounding song, it may sound like the other songs I’ve said that have that true rock n roll sound but this I find to be different sounding, it still has rock n roll elements but sounds like they just had fun writing this song and decided to take a step back from the dark vibe. Good for them to show this song off!

15.) Hello, Goodbye, Die.
This is the last song from the album. The start of the song is a kick in your face with Wednesday showing us his scream that we all love. It goes back to that dark feel and sounds like the old campy Murderdolls. It’s very fun fast paced song with another fast guitar solo by Joey. This song is full of catchy lyrics; “Hey man this sure feels great! Dump a dead body in a cold dark lake. it's a shame, it's a crime love it so much I do it all the... time!” “Murder to the left! Murder to the right! Hello, goodbye, die, die, die! Murder to the left murder to the right hooray for homicide!.” A great song to end “Women and Children Last.”

I hope for those who took the time to read this enjoyed my review on the album. Check them out, buy their music, and go see them. A great and fun band that’s fit for all ages!

The King of Murder has returned!

Showtime's biggest show of the decade "Dexter" returns with its 5th season. Does the show still hold up?

Photobucket

So it's been quiet a long road good ol' Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). Run ins with his brother, hes had a partner in crime, got married, had a kid, and even chased down the great Jon Lithgow!

Now he has to deal with the death of his lovely wife Rita.

The show starts off exactly where season 4 ended which I though was great. Cops arrive at the murder scene and Dexter is almost in awe at what had happened. He even told the first cop on the scene that "I did it". Now being a big fan of the show it was kinda weird seeing Dexter in such a vulnerable state, I mean he didnt really even seem that bad when he killed his own brother.

The show literally takes off just as any of the seasons have. The episode had great acting and writing as any other episode and left me completely stressed out wanting to know what was in store for Mr. Morgan.

The plot line of Dexter now being somewhat wanted by the FBI and him having to ditch all his killing tools and evidence ALL before having to go to Rita's funeral is simply classic Dexter at his finest.

Now boys and girls dont think that Dexter gets away with not killing anyone...trust me he does!

The death of Rita although sad, is something the show desperately needed. I mean how long could he play good father and husband AND still be a serial killer? A huge breathe of fresh air has been brought into the series which means the show can go anywhere. The whole start a new theme is brought back but not as tacked on as it was in the previous season, although it feel a tad rushed.

Basically I'm saying the first episode of season 5 is a terrific start to what already feels like one of the shows best seasons yet! Bring on more!

Dexter can be seen Sunday nights on Showtime....and youtube the next day!

Miss March?

So instead of posting my review of A Thousand Suns I decided to do a quick review of a movie that came out a year ago.

Photobucket

So It's 5am Sunday morning and I just finished watching Miss March starring Trevor Moore and Zach Cregger who you may know from the very funny sketch comedy show "The Whitest Kids U Know".

Now this movie was released in 2009. WKUK was gaining a lot of popularity and the 2 shining stars from the sketch show (Trevor and Zach) decided to create a screenplay to cash in on their new fame and success.

Heres the thing, WKUK in my opinion is extremely funny because like SNL its a sketch comedy which are short comedy segments back to back. Thats what makes WKUK funny because the stories are short and hilarious, although when a sketch in that show runs along it can be quite the opposite of anything humorous. That is one big problem with the show, they just aren't good at making a joke long enough to make a 5 minute skit funny let alone make an hour and a half movie. Which is why "Miss March" wasn't exactly a laugh riot.

The story goes as follows. Eugene (Zach Cregger) and Tucker (Trevor Moore) are good friends who are going to prom (which turns out to be a house party...I didn't understand that but whatever). Now Eugene is a virgin who is having a successful and sexless relationship, while Tucker is a Playboy obsessed, dim witted, sex addict. Eugene's girlfriend offers to have sex at the party and proceeds to go into an upstairs bedroom. Eugene hesitant although excited, asks Tucker for some help on the situation. Tuckers solution? Take a few shots of whiskey to numb yourself up and have at it. Well that doesn't exactly work too well for Eugene because instead of becoming a man, he drunkenly falls down a flight of stairs into a book shelf and is then pounded by tools and whatnot in a Home Alone type fashion.

Photobucket

Eugene is then in a 4 year long coma.....ok I suppose I'll accept that...moving on...

Eugene is awaken by a very funny baseball bat to the face by Tucker. Now this is where the movie takes a Dumb and Dumber turn. Eugene is informed hes been in a coma for 4 years and his girlfriend had moved and was nowhere to be found. Tucker one day is at work and receives the new issue of Playboy and who is the center fold? You guessed it (hopefully), Eugene's girlfriend. Tucker comes up with a brilliant scheme to get them into the Playboy mansion that weekend because there was a huge party, which in turn means Eugene's girlfriend would be there.

Photobucket

They where supposed to leave on Saturday morning but there was a slight change of plans when Tucker stabbed his girlfriend in the face with a fork because she was having an epileptic seizure while giving him oral sex. So they bailed out early. They travel cross country being chased by angry firemen and ending up hitching a ride with 2 lesbians that couldn't keep their hands off each other. They meet up with Tucker's friend and multi platinum selling rap artist Horsedick.MPEG ...yes thats his name, who gets them into the mansion where all hell breaks loose (of course it does).

Photobucket

Now to be honest the way I summarized the movie actually makes it sound better than it really is. Thats not to say the movie sucked. There is a charm to certain goofy comedies. This movie has glimmer of hope to be somewhat charming but just doesn't quite make it. It may have been the excessive shit jokes, or some unwarranted nudity, or the fact that Trevor and Zach where treating this movie like an episode of Whitest Kids U Know. They really had no real character in their roles. Honestly if you've watched one episode of the show you'd notice that they aren't really showing any acting skills in this movie.

All in all I did somewhat enjoy the movie. It might be because I love WKUK and Trevor is my favorite in the show, but nonetheless I doubt I'll ever watch it again out of choice. I did laugh at a few points but not enough to really recommend it to anyone. I say Trevor and Zach stick to doing what they do best on "The Whitest Kids U Know", dressing up like women and pretending they are monster truck drivers.

Miss March was the in between of funny and terrible. So skip it unless your a fan of WKUK.

Wrestler Lance Cade dead at 29

Former WWE wrestler Lance K. McNaugh (Lance Cade) unfortunately suffered from heart failure this past weekend. Lance Cade was a three time WWE tag champion with partner Trevor Murdoch.

Photobucket

Lance Cade was found dead on Friday August 13th 2010. It has been reported he had been having problems with pain killers and sleeping pills which caused a prior incident on a plane in January 2010 where he had a seizure.

Lance sadly leaves behind 2 daughters and one son.

RIP Lance

WWE Issues new Tag Team Belts

On last nights edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw. The Undisputed Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty where honored with new belts to symbolize the unification of the titles.

Here is a picture of the new titles!

Photobucket

I personally think they are pretty cool. Now I wouldn't want the world or WWE titles to look like this but for tag team titles they are nice.

Under The Red Hood Review Finally

Welcome one and all to my very first blog review on The Rated R Society page which I'm very happy to be apart of. This review will bring to you Batman: Under The Red Hood 2 Disc Special Edition. I hope you enjoy it I will leave my info at the end for questions, comments , or just to say my review sucks which I really don’t give 2 sh*ts about anyways. So as Joker in TDK said “And Here We Go”

title

Batman :Under The Red Hood Review Disc 1
The menu is pretty much the same as other dvds, play movie, special features, look at trailers and what have you. Let’s start off with a 15 minute short of animated Jonah Hex. Which is what im currently watching as my dog is crying at 5 am. Pretty simple stuff here. Western as it starts off with a saloon and the burlesque women , beer and a badass cowboy with half of his mouth missing! Now im interested. Its just basically a western animation from what I see to be honest though I don’t know what Jonah Hex is because ive never followed it. The cowboy though has a Clint Eastwood like voice as im hearing but he’s voiced by the first Punisher Movie lead role Thomas Jane! Once again ill be honest I just finished it and still have no idea what the hell just happened., so im going to skip what happens here but Jonah Hex fans it’s definitely worth a look.

On to the next part is the special features which contains a first look at SUPERMAN/BATMAN APOCALYPSE. Which ill write about in just a second. It also contains trailers for the following-
JUSTICE LEAGUE:CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS, BATMAN GOTHAM NIGHT (excellent dvd fyi) , SUPERMAN:DOOMSDAY, THE LORD OF THE RINGS ANIMATED TRAILER, JONAH HEX MOTION COMIC TRAILER AND LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS TRAILER. Its safe to say im going to leave those out because they are trailers and why spoil the fun for you?

SUPERMAN/BATMAN APOCALYPSE- Definitely excited for anything with Batman in it (except for the series which has characters like the joker with dreads. Sorry not my taste.) What is interesting about this piece though is not a trailer or a short. Its 12 minutes of artist and creators talking about the story which ill explain a few points here.
- Mainly revolves around Superman, Batman, Darkside, Wonder Woman and Kara even though im not going to explain who she is. More reason for you to buy this!

- Darkside takes Kara and uses her to get what he wants from Superman.

-Batman just kicks ass that is all.
From the looks of it once again the animation is very well done because hey it’s DC. Not cutting corners but like I said its just people talking about it and im not going to spoil that for you so im going to get to the best part of this dvd the actual movie.

joker

Batman: Under the Red Hood. WARNING: THIS IS A PG-13 MOVIE CONTAINING BLOOD, VIOLENCE AND DARK THEMES. PARENTS READ THIS BEFORE SHOWING THIS TO YOUR CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF 13.

The movie starts off with Ras Al Ghul regretting a choice he made 5 yrs ago. Then it goes to Joker (SWEET) beating the crap outta Robin with a crowbar. Very intense stuff here it shows blood but the violence is under control here as not much is to be seen. It’s taken right out of Batman: Death in the Family novel so for those whose haven’t read it I will not get into it because then it would be spoilers but I will what happens maybe considered as Batman’s biggest failure. Now I won’t waste anymore time so lets say the prologue ends there and it cuts to the title and credits then rolls on to the rest of our feature film!

Animation is by all means terrific and most of it is at night. Now after the title and credits its goes to present day which is 5 yrs later. Mob Bosses who are working for Black Mask are in a warehouse and are debating what the next move is. All of a sudden a mysterious man in a red hood shows up out of nowhere and tells them to work for him and if they refuse they die. Seems that Red Hood wants to take over Gotham just like almost every other villain that Batman has encountered. Black Mask and Batman have chosen otherwise though. Something is very different with this one though because Batman gets flashbacks and its not who Batman or you expect it to be. NightWing who is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris makes his appearance in the movie also which is entertaining to say the least and he helps Batman try to catch the mysterious Red Hood. Joker wants to get in on the fun too and you will see the role he has to play in this. As the movie progresses you will see over the top chase scenes ensue and so does fighting which will bring you back to the days of Batman The Animated Series! These fights should not be missed as Red Hood and Batman have a couple of blowouts (pun intended) themselves. It truly becomes a dark and courageous story as time goes by and you will be stuck in your seat from start to end as it all plays out and in the end it will leave you speechless.

The voice cast like I said before though is terrific and ill only list 2 because I listed NPH already.
Batman is played by Bruce Greenwood and Joker is played by John DiMaggio (who you all know as BENDER from Futurama.)

The only thing that im not happy go lucky for is the movie length. Its only 75 minutes long which I think should have been at least 90 minutes and at maximum 120. Still great story, great animation, great everything. Batman fans this is definetly one to own as you’ll watch this over and over again.

red hood

Under The Red Hood 2 Disc Special Edition Disc 2.

Disc 2 contains 3 things which im very happy to write about. Robin: The Story of Dick Grayson and Bruce Timm's own 2 picks of episodes of the show he co-created and what i grew up and loved, Batman The Animated Series. Ill get to that in just a second..

Robin: The Story Of Dick Grayson goes into a short barely 25 minute documentary of how Dick Grayson became Robin and how he would evolve into Nightwing while the creators and artists compare his attitude and actions relating to Batman. They explain how the relationship between the two became in the overview of father and son, teacher and mentor as well as big brother and little brother. They showcase Robin as a free spirit but at the same time they discuss what would have happened if he had stuck by Batman’s side. It’s interesting to see everyone’s spin on it and views of how they interpret it but I’ve always enjoyed the comic book way. The only problem I really have with this story is that it’s too short. I expected it to at least be 45 minutes of how Robin came into his own as kind of a short movie. Either way it’s still a choice if you’re a fan of Robin.

Bruce Timm’s picks 2 episodes from Batman The Animated Series.
Bruce Timm was co-creator of Batman TAS and other DC related shows and films such as Superman: The Animated Series , The New Batman Adventures , and Batman Beyond as well as countless others (crediting wikipedia for this). The two episodes he picked are Robin’s Reckoning 1&2 which are about.. You guessed it,Robin. I’m going to keep what happens hush though because you have to see it for yourself. Fans of the animated series will definitely enjoy this as much as I did because it brings you back the nostalgia if you don’t own the animated series on dvd by now and sure as hell I don’t.

Overall I say the 2 disc special edition of Under The Red Hood is worth it to own just on the fact that’s its one of the best Batman animated films out there from the past 5 yrs. Despite that the actual movie and Robin story are kinda short in both aspects its certainly worth the collection. If you order it from http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Two-Disc-Special-Collectible-Figure/dp/B003XK9ZIM/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1280998175&sr=1-2 . look for the special edition that contains a Red Hood figure because fans of the movie will enjoy the figure as a whole.

Randy Orton is WWE's kiss of death?

Photobucket

Randy Orton has been known to be a "perfectionist" when it comes to his in ring work. He's so into his work that if someone else makes a mistake he doesn't hide his anger at all. Seen in the terrible quality video below, Miz gets RKO'ed but it obviously wasnt to the Viper's liking. Orton screaming stupid and showing he is visibly upset isnt exactly staying in character.

Well this isnt the first time Orton has shown his anger this much. Apparently he wasn't to happy with Kofi Kingston for messing up the ending to their match seen in the video below.

Ever since Kofi's botch his main event push was held back. Also former WWE superstar Mr.Kennedy (now Mr.Anderson in TNA) was let go by WWE a year ago due to him botching and almost injuring the Silent Assassin. Orton has admitted in interviews that he was vocal in the firing of Mr.Kennedy.

Lets hope for The Miz's sake he made good with Orton because his money in the bank win may not pay off.

The Simpsons are smarter than Nostradamus!

Throughout The Simpsons 21 seasons (Season 22 starting soon) they have gone into "the future". Making various predictions of what the years ahead would look like. Some didn't really pan out to well but some where dead on. 11 Points compiled 11 predictions that The Simpsons got correct for the year 2010.

I always knew Nostradamus was full of shit!

The Caped Crusader is back again.

Everyone should know by now how awesome Batman Arkham Asylum is. Well it looks like Rock Steady isnt ready to hand over the bat yet.

Photobucket

Batman Arkham City finally has a release date....well sorta. The time period for the release is Fall 2011. Now lets hope this one doesn't get pushed back like the first. Writer Paul Dini spoke with MTV about the game saying that production was going smoothly. Sadly he revealed no secrets like villains. Yet Catwomen is on the cover of GameInformer magazine so....that should be a hint.

Look for Batman Arkham City in Fall 2011 for more than likely every next gen platform.

Leave the press to Linkin Park

Members of Linkin Park have decided to take the press write ups of their new album "A Thousand Suns" into their own hands. Instead of having some random journalist try to sell you on the record they are gonna do it themselves.

Photobucket

Lets see if Linkin Park can sell you on their new album

1) A THOUSAND SUNS

Whenever we finish an album, it's usually coupled with a block of text meant to describe it. The record company pays a “reputable” writer to craft their most exciting description of the music, in the hopes that it will help convince you to like it. But it seems to us that words usually don't do a great job of defining the sound of an album, so we thought we’d try something different and just tell you, directly from us, what was on our minds as we set out to make our new album, A Thousand Suns. We’ll leave the rest up to you.

Before you hear the music, we wanted you to know that this album was put together to be enjoyed as that: an album. We’re aware that many people are accustomed to small, single-song servings. In spite of that (or maybe because of it), we mean for this album to take you on a journey. If you decide to listen to the album in pieces, that’s fine; we just wanted to let you know there’s a part of the experience that only works when you listen to A Thousand Suns from beginning to end.

Listening to some of our favorite albums, it’s easy to forget that there was a moment in time, before their release, when they were just a crazy idea to an artist. We tried to keep that moment in mind as we were making this record. It provided us with the inspiration to take chances and not worry if at first something we tried was different or weird.

If you are already familiar with our band, you may notice a difference in the sound of this one. Part of it is because we love to try new things, and part of it is because there has been a sound that we've been waiting for in modern alternative music. We worked with Rick Rubin again on this record (he co-produced our last record) because he understood our vision of trying to capture this new sound.

We hope you enjoy the music and will come talk to us at www.linkinpark.com.

Brad, Chester, Dave, Joe, Mike, and Rob

PS: The people who work hard to promote our band wanted us to add a bunch of stats right here that are meant to impress you. We didn’t like that idea but, as a compromise, we agreed that we’d provide this link in case you want any of this information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park. We said that we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of Wikipedia but they didn’t believe us.

2) A THOUSAND SUNS

We were not making an album.

For months, we'd been destroying and rebuilding our band. The experiments that resulted filled the studio hard drive with diverse, abstract sounds. Amorphous echoes, cacophonous samples, and handmade staccato merged into wandering, elusive melody. Each track felt like a hallucination.

We didn't know if any of those unorthodox ideas could be incorporated into a traditional album, but we knew we didn't want our next album to be predictable. Sitting together in the same studio where we made our first album, all six of us voiced a commitment to going out on a limb, to making something truly daring. We asked ourselves: were we all earnestly willing, more than ever before, to abandon the precepts of commercial ambition in pursuit of what we believe to be honest art?

The inclination to begin writing conventional songs for a conventional album came and went. The temptation to adjust our creative vision to fulfill expectations beyond our studio walls yielded to the audacious ambition of what he hoped to achieve as a band. The two years of making A Thousand Suns marked our exhilarating, surrealistic, and often challenging journey into the creative unknown.

On the eve of its completion, this body of work, assembled through unconscious inspiration and unmitigated exertion, has revealed to us notions both stirring and surprising. The album's personified imagery is neither dogma nor political premeditation. The emergent themes and metaphors illuminate a uniquely human story.

A Thousand Suns grapples with the personal cycle of pride, destruction, and regret. In life, like in dreams, this sequence is not always linear. And, sometimes, true remorse penetrates the devastating cycle. The hope, of course, springs from the notion that the possibility of change is born in our most harrowing moments.

Enjoy the music.

Gotta catch em all....once you beat it that is

Coming this Spring to the Nintendo DS is the continuation of the Pokemon series with Black and White.

Photobucket

Like new versions of the game it contains a plethora of brand new pokes for you to battle and train with. This time there is a catch (pun intended). According to Game Freak's Junichi Masuda's blog you can only battle and catch the new creatures once the games main story is completed. In my opinion it really gives the player the incentive to complete the game, so I'm all for this change of pace. Good for you Game Freak!

Pokemon Black and White are set to release Spring 2011 from Nintendo and Game Freak for the Nintendo DS.

The Green Ranger kicks more than Putty Patrol ass!

So when you think of Jason David Frank you think of this guy right?

Photobucket

Better known as Tommy from The Mighty Morphin Power Ranger. Well guess what? He is not the Green Ranger anymore.

Jason David Frank is now a Pro MMA fighter, and now looks like this!

Photobucket

Tonight was Jason's Pro MMA debut for Texas Cage Fighting Puro Combate. He takes on Jose Roberto "Garfield" Vasquez.

Here's a little insight on Jason's thoughts and background going into the fight.

Jason's fight started and quickly ended. Jason made Jose tap with a choke in under 1 minute.....

Honestly there wasn't much to post about because Jason controlled the entire 1 minute of the fight with a fury of knees and punches taking Jose down.

Congrats to Jason David Frank on an awesome victory!

Check out Jason's facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jasondfrank?ref=ts

Again Congrats to Jason!

Linkin Park Returns with "The Catalyst"

Linkin Park a band from Southern California who has released numerous albums and projects since their inception in 2000. The multi selling sextet have returned from a 3 year album hiatus with the first single off their new album entitled "A Thousand Suns". How does it hold up?

Photobucket

The single is called "The Catalyst". Upon first listen you can tell the "nu-metal" rockers have changed their tune. No more is it teen angst ridden power. Instead the song shows musical talent. Mike Shinoda (MC,Producer, and co vocalist) has explained that they wanted to experiment with new sounds and ideas and make something new and unique. The song is driven by an electro beat that becomes embedded in your brain hours after hearing it.

Most LP songs have followed a format (verse, chorus.verse, chorus) but this song upon first listen doesn't seem to follow that format. The song also has somewhat of an identity crisis, meaning its almost like you are listening to more than one song.

Vocally the song is quite strong, containing lyrics like "God bless us everyone, we're a broken people living under loaded gun", which Mike Shinoda says isn't meant to be political. You sure about that Mr.Shinoda?

Chester's unique and powerful voice is what really makes this song shine. His voice mixed with the harmony of Mike makes this a standout song from their catalog of screams and raps.

If your looking for another "One Step Closer", or "Given Up" then turned around and walk away, because this song is anything but. They replaced heavy guitars with electro beats, almost rave like sounds, and DJ scratching.

I personally believe this to be a refreshing sound that the band and the rock genre needed. Linkin Park have released this song to say "We are here to stay." I for one am excited to hear the entire album.

I recommend any previous fans of Linkin Park check this song out. It may rekindle your love for them, or you my hate it and say "Oh man Hybrid Theory was their best". In that case click the X button in the top right corner and pretend you never read this review.

Verdict

LP is back and better than ever. I give it a Rated R rating!

Linkin Park is signed under Warner Bros.

"The Catalyst" is available now through iTunes and their myspace at www.myspace.com/linkinpark

The album "A Thousand Suns" will be available September 14th in the US. Pre-order it at www.linkinpark.com
